Sometimes it is the old
The worn, the beaten, the bruised
Faded and wasted and standing strong
Torn, peeled and abused
They are the survivors
Made ugly from suffering long
Their lives they did not choose
This kind of strength we strive for
Beauty here is beneath the skin, in their radiant souls
